TOPIC: Reverse Mentoring
Marley J. Duckett B.A., Hns., M.A.
1:45pm to 2:45pm
Companies are struggling not only to attract millennial talent, but also to retain it. Reverse-
mentoring is an engaging and innovative new approach to address retention, drive culture
change and promote diversity in a drastically evolving workforce.
This session explores the role
of the mentor and the mentee – what does the relationship need to be successful, and who is
responsible for the end results? Learn to address the gaps and connect meaningfully with the next wave of working professionals.
Marley Duckett is a socio-cultural anthropologist with a specialization in environmental anthropology and holds a Master of Arts from the University of Saskatchewan. Marley’s research is concerned with Canada’s resources and the impacts that extraction imposes upon peoples. Marley is also a theatre artist and regularly works in the arts in Saskatchewan. She has been fortunate to work with companies like Saskatoon Summer Players, SUM Theatre, 25th Street Theatre, Ferre Play, Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan, Saskatoon Opera, Gumshoe Productions, and more! Her work blends together environmental anthropology and the anthropology of theatre. Marley’s work considers the intersections between political-ecology and feminist theatre theories; she is particularly interested in stories that uplift the voices of women. When she is not in the field or on the stage, Marley teaches anthropology at both the Regina and Saskatoon universities, is an emerging playwright, and likes to sing. Her favorite performance is a toss up between singing back-up for the Eagles or making her New York City debut at Carnegie Hall this year! Marley believes that curiosity, creation, and collaboration inform good progress and even better product and encourages all to draw from the arts in whatever work they pursue.
