Fellow members:

Well I hope everybody had as terrific winter in your locale as we have experienced on the East Coast. According to Shubenacadie Sam, our winter should just about be over!!!

I am happy to report that we had a very successful midterm meeting, although you have probably heard that Madam 1st Vice President, Lori Penner, had to step in when I was taken ill on the Saturday. Lori is so wonderful, she took it all in stride and took over chairing the meeting as the experienced Pro she is!! Thanks to Lori for “being there” when I really needed her. I also want to thank the Directors and Executive Board for working so hard at midterm and accomplishing the work they did!! It will surely lead to a lot of discussion at the local level as we continue to make changes in some of the ways we do things.

Special thanks are extended to Gilbert Simard Tremblay for allowing us to hold our midterm meetings in their offices. This has produced savings to CAIW as we do not have to pay for meeting rooms and refreshments. Panagiota Kalantzis has gone above and beyond to accommodate us and we thank her for her efforts and time.

Nova Scotia will be the last of our 5-day Conventions and NSIWA is working hard to make it a memorable experience. We will be moving to a 3-day format beginning in Calgary in 2019 and IPC is excited to be the first to present this new concept to our members!!

There appear to be a lot of Local Association functions happening in the Spring and I am trying to make arrangements to get to some of them, if not all before the end of May. Travel plans will be finalized during March/April and I look forward to seeing many in the coming months.

During March, each Association President will be contacted to follow up on our prior conversations in the Fall.

We are now on the downward slope towards year end; however, there is still lots to do before our Annual General Meeting. Your Executive Board continues to work to make this an organization we can all be proud to be members of. Stay tuned for more changes coming in the near future!!

Yours in fellowship,

Deb MacDougall, CIP
CAIW President 2017-2018
